Hi,
Gmail not advertising flag updates is a real bummer. My workaround is to poll regularly using CONDSTORE like this:
a FETCH 1:* (UID FLAGS) (CHANGEDSINCE zzz)
Where zzz is the last known HIGHESTMODSEQ value.
