FWIW, there already is a language extension for IMAP. My name is on the
RFC, even. I think Ned Freed has an implementation, but I haven't exactly
been swamped by comments from would-be implementers.
I didn't implement it myself. To be frank I only finished the RFC because
it was the easiest way out. Sometimes "ship and discard" is easier than any
other alternative.
